Namji - or Dowayo - dolls are part of the the culture of the Namji (Dowayo) people. Like most traditional African dolls, they serve a specific purpose. The Namji doll is most widely used as a fertility doll that is gifted to brides on their wedding day. The dolls are believed to provide the bride with enhanced fertility, a healthy pregnancy, and a safe birth. They are also used to teach young girls how to care for a child through role play; however, they are still regarded as treasured family heirlooms.
These Namji dolls will add an afrocentric style to any environment.
